A self-tanner would be a much better option. It will take about twenty years for skin cancer to show up from UV exposure, though, as in, from a tanning bed. Australian Gold Crystal V it's 5 bronzers w/21 nutrients. it can get expensive but it's worth it. I tan pretty easily. My first time in the high power bed I went 8 minutes (with 10 being the max) and I got a little burnt. If you are fair, I would stick with a regular bed. Also look into a better lotion. Some have bronzers in them. Others have hemp oil or hemp seed extract in them that will make your skin redden for a little while. If you are going to a good place, they should have someone there who knows a lot about the products, and they can help you find one that is best suited for you.
