Definitely use a dual or triple bronzer. Exfoliate before you put it on, and then don’t shower for 4 to 6 hours afterwards. This will give you a topical tan as well as helping you tan deeper. Any basic exfoliant will work, just use it before, not after.
Only tan every other day at the most, and go slow at first. You can still burn in low pressure beds. After you tan, put on a little moisturizer, whatever they offer in the room, or buy some tan extender.
Being patient and consistent will give you a great tan. And if you can handle it, a cold tingle works great – I have sensitive skin, and it doesn’t bother me. Feels like you are just kinda cold all over.
If exfoliation is in your regular regime now, you can continue, but don’t do it too much or you will take some of your tan with it! Once a week is enough. Moisturize a LOT. Moisturized skin holds a tan much better and tans darker than dry skin.
Designer Skin makes a line that is Paraben-Free and uses natural fruit and seed extracts in it; it’s on the higher price range of about $80. Most lotions you find that are “all natural” are going to be pricier. You might also look at HEMPZ lotions, because they use hempseed extract but I’m not sure if they are organic, all natural, etc.
I use a moisturizer with a tan extender in it called Forever After. These lotions are available at the tanning salon. They keep your tan lasting longer. I usually put this on after a tan.
Before a tan I use a tanning lotion; I have several, some with bronzers some without. I’d recommend starting with something with a dual or triple bronzer – you won’t get too much extra color but you’ll get just a little boost. Ask your tanning salon associate to recommend a good one around $30-$40. This price range usually has better-than average ingredients and sometimes bigger bottles.
Don’t shower right after your tan (if you’re using a bronzer). This gives the bronzer time to settle in and act sort of like a VERY light self-tanner. I shower a few hours later.
Start low in the tanning beds, 4-6 minutes depending on your pigmentation and length of the bed (shorter max times mean stronger beds: a 12 min bed is stronger than a 15 min bed). If you don’t see any color and don’t burn bump up a minute. Stay at this time for two sessions then bump up another minute. If you keep up this gadual progression you will tan without burning. You should be tanning 3-5x per week to get the darkest tan. Once you start seeing results, mix up the beds you are using to get more color. Also, if your budget allows, you should mix your tanning lotions so your skin doesn’t get used to them.
hey try luv ya brown !!( i think its around 32$) its the best ever !! and also sweet 16 ( it has 16 bronzers crazy) its about 50$ but it really works … mmm when you go make sure you do not wash your face or anything 5 hours before tanning and dont wash your face or take a shower or put anything on your face 8 hours afther tanning (so you can keep your tan) and used alot of moisturizers on your skin so your tan can stay
Everyone’s advice here is great (for lotion and exfoliate)!
For lotion I wqould recommend a NON BRONZER only because when you first start building a tan your undertone is light and sometimes bronzers can use too much DHA (self tanner) which doesn’t go well with a light undertone.
When you have a base tan a bronzer looks best because the streaks are less visible and the color produces better with a brown base.
For regulars I recommend something rich in moisture like Shift, Impact (my fav!), or Carnival by Supre (www.supre.com). If your looking for something in rich skin care ingredients I absolutely recommend Fiji Blend (www.fijiblend.com) their products are expensive but use the richest skin care ingredients ( great anti aging and hypoallergenic products).
Exfoliating, ona side note, is crucialf ro a tanning PRIOR to your session so it will remove the dead skin (which causes a block to the UV light) and allow for a deeper even tan.
MOISTURIZE TWICE A DAY AND ALWAYS DO MINIMAL TIME! HAVE FUN!
